A threat to democracy: grief, tragedy, disease and death; COVID-19, systematic racism and social injustice changed our lives in 2020. Human beings are experiencing a drastic, radical paradigm shift that is long overdue.
Solution
Design an e-book and print book publication comparing Jack London’s The Scarlet Plague to a photographic report of the experiences my family and I had surviving the pandemic as a unit. Include the intense struggle we continuously encounter throughout our lives: grief, tragedy, disease and death. Encourage the audience to walk in our shoes and feel the struggle with us. Showcase that it is possible to overcome unprecedented obstacles. We as humans have the capacity to both face a grim reality and find inner strength for overcome challenging circumstances in both of these stories.
